POMPONS

For today’s post we made a skirt with pompons and a blouse. We’ve been inspired by cheerleading. We wanted to do something fun and girly, so instead of ‘normal modeling’ we decided to jump and dance on the streets of Paris.

For the pompons we chose pastel colors to match with the atmosphere of the evening shoot.

Today’s process is ‘DIY’ version, not just ‘behind the scenes’. We were trying to show you how to make pompons for yourself.

All you need is scissors, yarn and two circles you can make out of paper.

Have a nice evening, see you soon!

Today we present a collection I did for my Projet Professionnel at École supérieure des arts appliqués Duperré. This time we decided to post more photos of the process because it actually took ten months to make the whole collection and everything that goes with it. Clothes are not the only thing that matters. What took the most time was finding a lot of different inspiration – mostly architecture, interior design and various artists, then after months of research and textile experimentations (engraving print, laser cut, sublimation print, canadian smocking, hand sewing techniques etc.) it was time to do around forty sketches (collection plan) and ten fashion illustrations, choosing materials, colors, calculating the consumption of fabric and other accessories (zippers, yarns …), After all that – it was time to sew final dresses and work on the branding and packaging. I had to make a business card that reflects the atmosphere of my collection (colors, materials etc.), presentation cards, key words, tag, target group, placing the brand, shopping bag for our brand (Les Jumelles) and finally the look book (huh, I know, you get tired of just reading all of this, imagine you had to do it!).

David Paige, who is also ‘our almost neighbour’ in Paris took the pictures of our today’s editorial that you can check bellow – we absolutely love it.

We were not able to take pictures of the last outfit I did, because it wasn’t finished by then, and as usual, I had to sew it last night before the exam (Teja helped me, of course, thank you very much!)

I also wanted to say that this is not a collection for my Bachelor’s degree, that’s a whole another story and an extra year of work ( I know, right?). Let’s keep it a secret for now.

Enjoy the photos and have a great Saturday night!

Kiss,

Anja

Yesterday we spent a lovely afternoon in Jardin du Luxembourg. Our friend Shakiba, who is also a designer for today’s post, went on the photo shoot with us and we had a lot of fun. Just when we started to take pictures, a security guard came to ask why we have this photo shoot. We changed the location, this parc is enourmous after all, but just when we wanted to continue with our photo shoot another guard showed up and said that we have to leave the place. We tried to fake that we don’t understand a thing he’s saying, but it wasn’t working. So we walked to the beautiful white tree and decided to finish our photo shoot there. No more guards showed up, luckily, so we could took as many pictures as we wanted to 😀 We hope you’ll enjoy the photos. See you soon.

Today we shot at Concorde once again. Not at the same place of course. We had problems with our camera, with our internet connection and we were in very shitty mood too. And everybody was watching, ’cause Concorde – well, it’s very crowded. We also had problems because we didn’t want other people on the pictures. Alors, at the beginning we were just shouting at each other that’s why we’ve realised it’s time for coffee. Which was bloody disgusting …:) But after a little break we decided to remain positive and went back and continued with our work. This coat is perfect for the beginning of March, because it’s not super warm but warm enough for the beginning of spring. We used the same texture, which originates from canadian smocking, because we are working on collection Metamorphosis Of Water so we wanted to show you the first piece of our collection. On the pictures of process you can see the sleeve and the texture. Enough said, enjoy the pictures, see you soon!

This time we made an orange jacket with black lining and raglan sleeves. It’s warm and cosy but you have to be bold to wear it, because the color of the fabric is really intense. It’s funny because we used to hate orange color but we found out that in combination with black or white is actually really nice. We did a photo shoot near to Invalides, well known place in Paris. We wanted to do something fresh and oversize since the dress is already very skin-tight. We hope you guys like it. See you soon!

1.  A) Last year’s resolution (to quit smoking)  didn’t really play itself out, so we decided to start rolling our cigarettes this year!

B) We will try to roll nicer cigarettes than this one on the picture below 😉

2. No more cappucino! We are not in Ljubljana anymore, where you get a coffee for 1.30 e! From now on we will drink a little spit of coffee, which is called caffee noisette in France and which you get in Paris for higher price than white coffee in Ljubljana (2.5e).

3. Our new artistic installation Les Jumelles, inspired by restaurant Piazza :D. New Year’s resolution: We will wash our laundry every day, so our flat (-6. floor, 1500 stairs per day if you go out 7x per day) won’t look like this:

4. We will carefully keep a record of our bills, so we can afford a coffee our two once a month!

This is it for this year. You should think about your New Year’s resolutions, then quickly throw them in a corner of your mind and forget about them untill the next New Year’s Eve! 😉

New Year’s Resolutions

Drinking warm coffee feels good after the cold photo shoot inspired by mosaic art and Gaudi’s architecture in Barcelona. We were also inspired by The Runaways, the american drama film about the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name and band’s style of clothing. That’s why we picked the shoes from the vintage store and luckily they cost us only 10 euros.
We wanted to achieve that bitchy cherry bomb look also with make-up and jewellery.
Ceramic pieces were used for the sleeves and between the zippers on the front part of the jacket.
The photo shoot took place in La Defense which is well known business district in Paris, because we wanted our location to look like traveling through time in a futuristic style.

For today’s post we decided to do an editorial about a nun who is cramped by all the church’s rules, so she decides not to follow them. We sewed a high waisted skirt, a top and a nun’s hat – all modernised of course.

Our intention wasn’t to scorn religion, even though the title may seem a bit controversial.
We really enjoyed the photoshoot and we hope you will enjoy the photos as well. Don’t miss the new post in two weeks!

NASLOV

For this post we were inspired by water and music. Movement, fluidity, softness and waves were the first associations that came to our minds. This time we spent more time on design than usual; this was actually the first time that we did the textures on the clothes and we think it went really well. The texture originates from a canadian smocking technique but we changed it a little bit. One of us did the skirt and the other the top, but we designed everything together. For the material we chose dark blue wool, which we diversified with a gorgeus ribbon and a gold zipper on the top.

We imagined the atmosphere of the photo shoot as elegant, soft, blurry and tender. We shot in one of our favourite places in Paris, Hôtel de Ville. We also shot and edited a teaser, which you can check out on the link below. We’re sorry we haven’t been posting  frequently lately, but we’ve had a lot of work at our new faculty. But we’ve realized this is what makes us happy more than anything else – working for our blog. So don’t miss the next project in two weeks, which is going to be a bit …controversial.

COLDASMOSCOW

This time we deciced for a spontanious post. At this photo shoot we focused more on the photography and stylism than design. The next project is going to be as usual; we are planning to make a new design soon, for which we are going to shoot a short teaser and then make a photo shoot so we will need some more time.

We imagined the atmosphere on the photos as cold, powerful and in russian style. You can see this by the choice of clothing.

We payed a lot of attention to editing the photos too.

Don’t miss the next project. Soon.
